AI in Equipment Finance: What’s Hype and What’s Real?

How AI is accelerating everyday business tasks while industry expertise remains essential to getting the right results.

Artificial intelligence has become one of the biggest conversations across the equipment finance industry. From keynote presentations to technology demonstrations on the exhibition floor, AI is generating plenty of excitement. But beyond the headlines and predictions, where is it making a real difference today?

During an interview with Solifi at the 2026 ELFA Annual Convention, JDR Solutions CEO Joey Enevoldsen was asked to help break down what’s hype and what’s actually delivering value.

Joey pointed to some very practical applications that are already changing how businesses work, particularly when it comes to preparing and organizing information.

Making Document Preparation More Efficient

Bringing on a new client often involves gathering, reviewing, and organizing a substantial amount of documentation. Traditionally, assembling these document packages can be a time-consuming process that requires significant manual effort.

AI is helping change that. Tasks that once took hours can now be completed in a fraction of the time, allowing teams to assemble document packages more efficiently.

The same opportunities extend beyond client onboarding. Preparing PowerPoint presentations for sales meetings and other business development activities is another example of how AI can significantly reduce preparation time.

The Expertise Behind the Output Still Matters

While AI can produce documents, organize information, and build presentations in a fraction of the time, getting a quality result isn’t as simple as entering a few words and letting technology do the rest.

The quality of the output depends on the instructions, context, and level of detail provided. Creating an effective document package or sales presentation requires a well-developed prompt that clearly outlines the objectives, required content, relevant details, and desired outcome.

This is where industry and business knowledge become especially important. The person using AI must understand what information belongs in the document, what needs to be included, and what a successful result should look like. AI can accelerate the process, but it still takes knowledgeable direction and careful review to ensure the final product is accurate, relevant, and complete.

Looking Beyond the Hype

At JDR Solutions, we continue to explore practical ways AI can improve efficiencies across our operations. The opportunity isn’t simply about doing things faster. It’s about combining the capabilities of emerging technology with the experience and expertise required to use it effectively.

As AI continues to evolve, businesses that understand both its capabilities and its limitations will be better positioned to turn the technology into meaningful operational improvements.
